There is something about the Christmas Season...the lights and the music and the cold weather, that has a warming effect on my heart. It renews my faith in the power of kindness and gives me pause to consider my blessings. I'm even warmed so much that I will wish strangers a 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy Holidays' where my non-Christmas habit is to just keep to myself!
There are a few other times during the year that cause my heart and spirit swell with such joy and anticipation and hope. If I don't want to be like forgotten, frostbitten and unrecognizable foil-wrapped leftovers in the back of the fridge, then these renewals are essential for my heart!
It's during this season that I am afforded the unique, tinsel-studded occasions to evaluate my heart and my values. Now, I strive for renewal more often than the occasional change of season (as I hope we all do) but I think you'll agree that Christmas has a certain magic that can coax even the coldest heart to get warmed by the fire.
So whether you're spreading cheer by singing loud (for all to hear) or wishing a stranger a heart-felt "Merry Christmas" I hope you're stoked this season.

This is me, @cardboard.erik back in 2015. In the early days, I did everything the hard way. All of our green coffee bags were schlepped by hand, all of our batches were scaled out by scoop, all of the roasting was done by adjusting little levers and knobs and our roast logger was an accounting binder with all the variables logged live as I roasted.
When we named our business, we chose this name because it symbolized what we wanted to become. Even though we didn’t consider ourselves “valiant” we knew and believed with time and persistence, we could become Valiant.
