The Best Way to Drink Coffee Cream? Sugar? Black? A tad of cinnamon? Which way is the best way? It is by no means difficult to find strong opinions about coffee. From how to grind it to which apparatus can produce a more finely tuned cup, everyone seems to have an opinion about which way is the absolute best and if you diverge from having the perfect equipment, using only the perfect temperature water (filtered of course), only then will you experience the rapture of a perfect cup.
I, of course, have my own opinions on the matter.
I believe there is only one wrong way to drink coffee, and that is to not enjoy it.
Don’t get me wrong, I love obsessing over how to get the most flavor out of each cup but if that prevents me from enjoying a cup with my friend, why am I doing it?
I’m huge fan of the Kirinyaga Peaberry here at Valiant and I will make a cup for anyone that needs a pick me up. But when I do I get one question more often than any other: can I put cream and sugar in this? Usually this is accompanied by an apprehensive look on their face that betrays a certain fear of judgment if they should ever soil such a fine coffee with cream.
I have a particular response to this: WHAT? Of course you can! You do whatever you like to it! It’s YOUR coffee.
If you wanna put butter and coconut oil in it, great. Enjoy it.
If you wanna put hazelnut creamer in it, great. Enjoy it.
If you wanna put Bailey’s in it, great, make sure your boss doesn’t find out.
Whatever you do to your coffee, enjoy it and don’t let anybody tell you that how you enjoy it is wrong.
As always friends,
